Are these the coolest dolls’ houses you have ever seen? In a fabulous new charity auction named A Dolls' House, 20 architects and designers have created dolls’ houses that will be auctioned in aid of the charity KIDS. The houses also include miniature artworks by artists such as Grayson Perry and Chris Ofili, and have each been designed to include a feature that would make life easier for a child with a disability.
The project was inspired by the dolls’ house that Edwin Lutyens designed to showcase modern architecture for The British Empire Exhibition in 1922, and has been curated by Cathedral Group. In the same spirit as Lutyen’s original house, every architect was encouraged to collaborate with artists, designers and furniture-makers, so that the décor of each house is totally unique.
A selection of the dolls’ houses are currently on show at Senator in London, and will be auctioned at Bonhams on 11th November.
KIDS is a UK charity that supports disabled children and young people and their families. They run home learning schemes, and provide nurseries, short-breaks and adventure playgrounds for disabled children. They also offer services to parents of children with disabilities, and programmes for siblings and young carers.
