Keep on top of your money using free support

Keeping on top of your finances can often feel like a full time job, and if you do find yourself falling in to debt it can be overwhelming to find your way out. This is why it is important to know that there are some great money advice charities available out there that will provide free and confidential advice to help you be in control of your money.

Money Advice Trust

The trust has been running for over 21 years and provides debt advice to individuals and businesses. They are responsible for running the National Debtline which provides free and confidential advice. They also run a 24 hour online service called My Money Steps. This service asks the user specific questions and then generates a tailor made help plan just for them.

Finally the trust produces self-help packs. The packs provide a lot of information and simple steps that allow readers to better understand their financial situation and the options that are available if they find themselves in debt.

Debt Advice Foundation

They specialise in support and advice in regards to loans, credit and debt. They can provide help with organising monthly repayments, understanding your rights when dealing with creditors, and how to protect your important assets. They also operate a free telephone helpline, plus they offer a range of debt tools on their website.

Talking Money

Talking Money was first registered as a charity in 1990 and was previously known as the Bristol Debt Advice Centre. The charity has been set up to help anyone that resides in the Bristol area with debt and financial issues. They provide a range of services including financial education, to help people to better organise their finances, and energy advice. Energy advice is particularly important at this time of year as it aims to help people reduce their bills and stay warm throughout the winter months.

Money4Youth

This charity is different from the others that are listed above as they work directly with primary and secondary schools to provide programmes that teach young people about the importance of being financially responsible. They focus on ensuring that young people grow up with a strong knowledge of how to handle money and debt, providing them with the confidence to deal with their future finances.
