One of the biggest opportunities currently facing charities is the potential to tap donors online. Introducing AmazonSmile.
AmazonSmile is a marketing service that lets customers generate a donation for a charity each time they shop on Amazon. Giving shoppers the opportunity to choose a charity before they shop, the service provides charities with a unique opportunity to tap into Amazon’s enormous customer base, while also getting ahead of the digital curve.
Each time customers shop, Amazon donates a percentage of the net purchase price for millions of eligible products. In the USA alone, Amazon has donated over $69 million to charities through AmazonSmile since its launch. With a select number of UK charities currently on board, a wealth of newly added UK charities will be enrolled from 1 March 2018.
With digital giants like Amazon growing into the charity sector, the outlook seems positive. However, the onus is now on charities to make sure they are a part of this digital growth.
