Registration is now open for the 2016 British Heart Foundation’s London to Brighton Bike Ride.
Now celebrating its 41st year, Europe’s largest and oldest charity bike ride returns on Sunday 19th June 2016. Setting off from Clapham Common cyclists will take on the 54 mile ride from the city to the sea, finishing along the iconic Brighton seafront.
More than 800,000 riders have taken part in the ride, peddling more than 40 million miles and raising a staggering £65 million for the BHF’s life saving research.
British Heart Foundation ambassador and keen cyclist, Pippa Middleton, took on the challenge in 2015 and is now encouraging people to join her on this year’s ride.
“Last June 2015, a team of friends and I rode the BHF’s London to Brighton Bike Ride in its 40th year and it was an unforgettable experience. There was such a great atmosphere throughout the day. The view from Ditchling Beacon, the highest point of the ride at 813 feet, was well earned and hard to beat.
“This event is testament to the fact that cycling is such an inclusive sport that everyone can enjoy and through the money raised, the BHF can continue to help the millions of people affected by coronary heart disease – the UK’s single biggest killer. I encourage anyone who is curious to take place in this historic event.” Pippa Middleton shared.
Places for the 2016 ride are now open and amateur cyclists and families are invited to join the challenge as explained by Nancy Smyth, Head of Events at the BHF
“With a sensible amount of training, the ride is suitable for anyone over the age of 14. We want to see women, men, families and friends joining the army of riders who have taken on the challenge to date.
“By taking on your own personal challenge, you’re helping us take on ours – we want to put an end to heart disease.”
Register now for the London to Brighton Bike Ride and use your pedal power in the fight against heart disease.
