That's a wrap!
We always love to hear about creative fundraising at Charity Choice, so we were blown away by Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s BIG Bandage fundraiser. A massive 30,000 supporters got dressed in bandages to support the charity, aiming to raise £101,000 for a chemotherapy suite. Wow!
The BIG Bandage is one of the hospital’s biggest fundraising events, with support from celebs such as Big Brother presenter Emma Willis and Pixie Lott, as well as patients, families, local businesses, schools, and hospital staff. Local football clubs put aside their sporting rivalry to rally together and support the cause, and even lampposts, bollards and railings around the city were covered in bandages!
The chemotherapy suite is just part of the hospital’s current £4million Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal. This appeal is the biggest yet for the hospital, and aims to transform the 30 year-old cancer unit facilities and accommodation. The funds raised will go towards increasing space for their young patients, providing better communal areas for families, and improving the outpatients area.
