Rescue Dogs of the Week

Every Friday we like to share our favourite animal shelter rescue pets who are currently looking for loving new homes. Last week we featured 13 black cats for Friday the 13th, so this week we wanted to give the dogs their time in the spotlight. Here are five perfect pooches looking for new families; could one of them be your new best friend?

Visit the websites of these charities if you are interested in adopting any of the dogs on this page, and don't forget to read our top tips on adopting a pet from an animal shelter.

animal charity Jerry Green Dog Rescue Bobby.jpg

From Jerry Green Dog Rescue: "Bobby is a delightful lurcher boy with an big personality! He is bright and loves to learn, he already knows sit, lie down and he is very gentle when taking treats. Like most sighthounds he LOVES to show people just how fast he can run, but he is also very focused on his humans and prefers to stay close rather than running off. He likes to play with other dogs and is very sociable with all breeds and sizes, so he would be suitable to live with another dog. Bobby likes children and could live with robust children as he can sometimes be boisterous and excitable."

animal charity Dogs Trust London (Harefield) Max.jpg

From Dogs Trust (London Harefield): "Max is a loving boy that has huge amounts of potential in the right home. Sadly Max has been in and out of kennels his whole life and now he needs a permenent forever home. He's very keen and eager to please, and highly intelligent as well. He'll do most anything for a treat and a cuddle! Max loves his walks and walks well on a gentle leader. He wants to be the only pet in a home, and he will be a loving and loyal companion. He's seeking an adult home where he can get the new start in life he deserves. Max is looking for a home in a semi-rural area where he can settle in and be away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life."

animal charity Dog Aid Society of Scotland Misty.jpg

From Dog Aid Society of Scotland: "Misty is a 1 year old Jack Russell with the endearing feature of having one ear always up and one ear always flopped down. Misty loves having lots of attention especially when she gets cuddles. She is very playful and is very excitable and loves her toys. Misty has a little white and brown monkey that she carries around and it goes everywhere with her. She is very energetic and loves to go out for nice walks. She does need further training, as she is not good off lead and she only has basic manners such as sit. Misty is looking for a fun and active home, she will need company throughout the day, however she is used to being left for short periods of time."

animal charity Retired Greyhound Trust General.jpg

From Retired Greyhound Trust: "My name is General and I am a very affectionate 6 year old boy. I was given to someone who was supposed to look after me, but they didn't. There were seven of us who were starved and neglected - all the others have now been homed. I am the last one left of those seven dogs. I am very happy and healthy now, but I would love a home, like all the others."

animal charity Three Counties Dog Rescue Barry.jpg

From Three Counties Dog Rescue: "Barry is a grey/black coated German Shepherd cross Labrador who is very gentle and will become very loyal to his new owners. He loves to come out of his kennel to play. Barry is the size of a Groendal (Belgium Shepherd). We recommend he be re-homed without children."
